This clearly indicated that Joseph was God&#39;s choice.</p><p>The Wedding Ceremony**: Therefore, the high priest betrothed Mary to Joseph. Although Joseph initially declined humbly because of his age, he eventually followed God&#39;s will and married Mary (the wedding scene depicted in the painting).
